Betfred started life like a lot of online bookmakers as a family business who came into operation way back in 1967.

Formerly known as Dones they were established in the North West of England before expanding into a nationwide company. They now have over 750 shops and are the world’s largest independent bookmaker with an annual turnover of almost £1.6bn.

They are well established and you can bet with them with confidence knowing they have a solid reputation backed with years of experience in the industry

They used to be (and still are to some extent) marketed as the "Bonus Kings" and customers can always be sure of finding some pretty tasty promotions offering bonuses and other special offers when the visit the website.

The range of bets covered is quite good, but they are aimed at a UK market primarily and don't offer as much worldwide coverage as some other bookmakers. Their UK football coverage is excellent and coverage of the main European football leagues is also good.

Betfred do offer reasonable value when it comes to their odds and if you look for their specials you can get some really good deals

The actual website is where they fall down a bit. The site isn’t full of marketing banners and ads-which isn't a bad thing-but it does look rather lacklustre and a bit dated and isn't the most appealing of websites to punters. It’s fairly easy to use and one good point is it's extremely user friendly betting slip.

The website isn't the quickest we've used, but it is still pretty fast and is by no means the slowest we've experienced either.
